Dymista Information:
What is Dymista?
Dymista is a nasal spray prescribed to treat allergic rhinitis. It contains the drugs azelastine and fluticasone. Azelastine is antihistamine which works by blocking substances that cause allergy symptoms. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid which helps to reduce itching and inflammation.
How do I take Dymista?
Buy Dymista at your local pharmacy with a prescription from your doctor and a coupon from HelpRx. Shake the bottle of Dymista before each use. Before using a new bottle of Dymista, you must prime the pump. Press down completely on the pump about 6 times until a full spray comes out the top. The pump may need to be primed again if you wait longer than 14 days to use it. Blow your nose and try to clear your nasal passages before using the spray. Then, tilt your head back and insert the tip of the spraying into your nostril. Hold the other nostril shut with your finger. Release one spray into your nostril and inhale as you do so. Keep your head back for a few seconds after inhaling the spray. Do the same with the other nostril. Wipe the tip of the spray bottle clean and replace the cap.
Before taking Dymista, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Dymista.
- You are taking other prescription or nonprescription medications, especially other medications with the same ingredients or ritonavir.
- You have glaucoma or cataracts.
- You have tuberculosis or herpes simplex virus of the eyes.
- You have sores inside your nose or throat.
- You have infection or signs of an infection.
What are the possible side effects of taking Dymista?
Possible side effects from using Dymista include drowsiness, headache, a change in the way you taste things, sinus pain, sore throat, minor cough, and minor nosebleed. More serious side effects include severe or persistent nosebleed, blurred vision, eye pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, noisy or rattling breath, and redness, sores or white patches on the inside of the nose or throat. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, contact your doctor at once.
What if I forget to take a dose of Dymista?
If you miss a dose of Dymista, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. But, if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular regimen. Do not take a double dose of Dymista to compensate for a missed one.
How do I store Dymista?
Store Dymista upright at a temperature between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Protect this medication from light and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
What happens if I overdose on Dymista?
Overdosing on Dymista is not common. If you are using Dymista too frequently, you may experience severe side effects. Using Dymista for a long period of time can cause thinning skin, increased acne, facial hair growth, menstrual problems, impotence and easy bruising. If you think you are using this medication too frequently, talk to your doctor.
Warnings
Corticosteroids like the one in Dymista can lower your white blood cell count over time. Try to stay away from people with a cold, flu or infections while using this medication.
Brand Names
There are currently no other brand names or generic medications on the market that contain the same ingredients as a nasal spray. Because of this, the cost of Dymista remains high. To lower the price of Dymista, take advantage of our printable Dymista coupons that are accepted in all major US pharmacies.
