What is Hylatopic?

Hylatopic is one of the few steroid-free treatments available for atopic dermatitis.  It is a skin barrier emollient, meaning it works by moisturizing the skin barrier. Hylatopic replenishes some of the skin’s natural moisturizers and locks in moisture to promote faster healing. Moisturizing ingredients include glycerin, petrolatum, dimethicone, sodium hyaluronate and seed butter.

How do I take Hylatopic?

Hylatopic is normally applied three times daily to the affected area(s). Shake the canister well before each use. Wash and dry the affected area(s) before applying any medication. Rub the medication into the skin and wash your hands after use. Doses may vary by condition. Always follow your doctor’s or dermatologist’s instructions. Ask your doctor about using any other moisturizers along with Hylatopic.

Before using Hylatopic, tell your doctor if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Hylatopic medicine.
  • You are taking or using any other prescription or nonprescription medications, especially those used to treat skin conditions.
  • You have a rash or broken skin on the site where you are going to apply Hylatopic.

What are the possible side effects of taking Hylatopic?

Possible side effects from using Hylatopic include a mild burning sensation, itching, dryness, redness or scaling skin at the site of application. Serious but rare side effects include allergic reaction. If you are allergic to this medication, stop using it and seek medication attention. Ask your doctor for a replacement. If your skin condition doesn’t improve after a few weeks, tell your doctor.

What if I forget to take a dose of Hylatopic?

If you forget to apply a dose of Hylatopic, apply the missed dose as soon as your remember it. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular routine. Do not apply two consecutive doses to compensate for a missed one.

How do I store Hylatopic?

Store Hylatopic at a temperature between 59 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep this medication out of sunlight and away from direct heat. Do not allow the canister to freeze. The contents are under pressure. If it is exposed to high heat, freezing or if the canister is punctured, it may explode.

What happens if I overdose on Hylatopic?

There are no reports of overdose on Hylatopic. If you think you are using too much of this medication, ask your doctor about changing your doses. If you or someone you know accidentally swallows this medication, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Warnings

Hylatopic is for topical use only. Do not swallow this medication and keep it away from your eyes, nose and mouth. This product may make your skin more sensitive to the sun try to cover treated areas when outdoors.
