What is Zocor?

Zocor is a classified as an antihyperlipidemic, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that is prescribed, along with dietary changes and exercise, for the treatment of high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. What are the possible side effects of taking Zocor?

Some patients have reported side effects from taking this medication. Less severe Zocor side effects include memory loss, headaches, disorientation, and gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, stomach pain, or constipation. Severe Zocor side effects that require immediate medical attention include light sensitivity, pain or tenderness in the joints or muscles, fatigue, or changes in appetite. What if I forget to take a dose of Zocor?

If you forget to take the scheduled dose of your Zocor medication, take it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume your normal dosing routine. Do not take multiple doses of this medication to make up for a missed one.
