• What
This medicine is a progestin hormone used to support embryo implants and early pregnancy in certain women. It is used as part of an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatment program. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
• How
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. AN ADDITIONAL PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET is available with this medicine. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. THIS MEDICINE IS A VAGINAL INSERT to be used with the disposable applicator provided. Review the patient insert for proper preparation and use of the vaginal applicator. WASH YOUR HANDS before and after using this medicine. YOU MAY USE THIS MEDICINE while standing, sitting, or when lying on your back with your knees bent. Unwrap the applicator, and place one insert in the space provided at the end of the applicator. Gently place the thin end of the applicator well into the vagina. Push the plunger to release the insert, then remove the applicator and throw it away in the trash. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from heat and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not remove from the sealed foil pouch until just before use. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT use 2 doses at once.
• Precautions
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT USE OTHER VAGINAL PRODUCTS WHILE USING THIS MEDICINE. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking carbamazepine or rifampin. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including a history of heart or blood vessel problems, depression or other mental/mood problems, cancer, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have had a recent miscarriage or if the embryo is implanted outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy). Use of this medicine is not recommended if you have vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, liver disease, known or suspected breast cancer, bleeding in the brain, or severe blood vessel problems; or if you have a history of heart attack, stroke, or bleeding or blood clotting problems (such as blood clots in legs, lungs, or eyes). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
• Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include breast tenderness, drowsiness, constipation, nausea, headache, stomach pain, cramping, tiredness, or vaginal burning or irritation. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience change in emotions, mood, or behavior; stomach pain, swelling, or tenderness; unusual vaginal itching, discharge, or odor; or swelling of the ankles or feet. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience abnormal vaginal bleeding; chest pain; calf or leg pain or swelling; shortness of breath; coughing up blood; one-sided weakness; pain in the groin; partial or complete loss of vision; severe headache, vomiting, or dizziness; fainting; changes in vision or speech; weakness or numbness of an arm or leg; breast lumps, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. • Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
• Additional Info
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
