Oxaydo Information:

What is Oxaydo?

Oxaydo is an immediate-release formulation of oxycodone. When taken as prescribed, this medicine helps reduce the perception of pain by attaching to certain receptors in the brain, spinal cord, and other organs.

How do I take Oxaydo?

Take Oxaydo exactly as prescribed by your doctor; do not take it more frequently or for longer than your doctor has told you to, as this medication can be addictive. Take tablets with food and water. Do not suddenly stop taking Oxaydo without talking to your doctor, as you may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

Before taking Oxaydo, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to oxycodone or any other medications
  • You are taking any other medications, vitamins, or supplements
  • You have a breathing disorder, such as asthma
  • You have a stomach or intestinal blockage
  • You have a history of mental illness or substance abuse
  • You have had a brain tumor, head injury, or seizures
  • You have liver or kidney disease
  • You have difficulty urinating
  • You have an adrenal gland disorder, such as Addison’s disease
  • You have any problems with your pancreas, gallbladder, or thyroid gland

What are the possible side effects of taking Oxaydo?

Mild side effects of Oxaydo may include headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, constipation, dry mouth, or itching. Call your doctor as soon as possible if you experience severe lightheadedness, sexual dysfunction, missed menstrual periods, confusion, shallow breathing, slow heart rate, or seizures. Get emergency medical help if you experience unusual agitation, fever, excessive sweating, hallucinations, muscle twitching or stiffness, loss of coordination, persistent vomiting, or diarrhea, as these may be signs of a life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome.

What if I forget to take a dose of Oxaydo?

If you are taking Oxaydo on a dosing schedule and you forget a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses close to the same time, as this may increase your risk of serious side effects.

How do I store Oxaydo?

Store Oxaydo in a secure space at room temperature, away from high heat, moisture, and bright light. Because this medication is a Schedule II controlled substance, you should never leave it anywhere that someone else can access. If you have any unused medication, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of it safely. There may be a drug take-back disposal program in your area.

What happens if I overdose on Oxaydo?

Call 911 for emergency medical attention if you or someone you know has overdosed on Oxaydo. Opioid overdoses can be fatal.

Warnings

The interaction of alcohol and oxycodone can be dangerous and potentially fatal, so avoid alcoholic beverages while taking Oxaydo. This drug may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so don’t drive or operate heavy machinery until you know you can do so safely. Don’t eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medication.
