Rosula Information:

What is Rosula?

Rosula is a topical prescription drug containing the antibiotics sulfacetamide sodium and sulfur. It helps to stop the growth of bacteria that causes acne, rosacea, or seborrheic dermatitis. The sulfur in this medication also helps remove the top layer of dead skin, which helps give the skin a more even, healthy appearance.

How do I use Rosula?

The method for applying Rosula will depend on the form you are using, so follow the instructions on the medication packaging carefully. Always wash your hands before and after each application, and do not bandage or otherwise cover the treated skin unless your doctor has specifically told you to do so. Follow the dosage schedule your doctor prescribes to get the most benefit from this antibiotic.

Before taking Rosula, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to sulfa drugs or have any other allergies
  • You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements
  • You have kidney disease
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Rosula?

Rosula may cause some skin irritation, including stinging, burning, itching, swelling, or redness. Stop using Rosula and contact your doctor immediately if your skin irritation becomes severe, or if you have mouth sores, joint pain, or a fever. Get emergency medical attention right away if you have facial swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing, as these may be signs of a severe allergic reaction.

What if I forget to use a dose of Rosula?

Try to use Rosula at the same time every day, and refill your prescription before you run out of this medication to reduce your risk of missing a dose. If you do forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosage schedule.

How do I store Rosula?

Keep Rosula tightly sealed in its original packaging, and store it at room temperature. Do not keep this medication in the bathroom, since moisture and heat can negatively affect it. Store it somewhere that children and pets cannot easily access.

What happens if I overdose on Rosula?

It is unlikely that you will overdose on Rosula when applying it topically, but if you or someone in your household accidentally swallows some of the facial cleanser or foam, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 to find out what to do.

Warnings

Keep Rosula away from your nose, eyes, and mouth. If you do get it in any of these areas, rinse with water immediately. Do not apply Rosula to sunburned, broken, or otherwise irritated skin, and do not use other topical medications on the treated skin unless your doctor gives you permission.
