What is Ovace?
Ovace topical products include shampoos, foams, cleansing gels, creams and lotions. The active ingredient in Ovace is an antimicrobial agent called sulfacetamide. It works killing certain types of bacteria and certain types of fungus. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to treating dermatitis and dandruff, Ovace products may also be used to treat certain types of skin infections.
How do I take Ovace?
Ovace products are for topical use only. Instructions vary by product. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions for your particular condition and follow the directions on the label. Use the medication at regular intervals in order for it to be most effective. If you get this medication in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water. Finish the full course of your treatment as prescribed by your doctor or dermatologist, even if your condition is better.
Before taking Ovace, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any medications, especially sulfa drugs or sulfur products.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have kidney or liver disease.
- You are using any other products or medications in the same area you would apply Ovace.
What are the possible side effects of taking Ovace?
Possible side effects from using Ovace products include redness, irritation or scaly skin at the site of application. These side effects should lessen over time. If these side effects are severe or don’t go away, tell your doctor. If you experience an allergic reaction, rash, blisters, jaundice or any unusual side effects not listed here, tell your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible.
What if I forget to take a dose of Ovace?
If you forget to use Ovace, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s already almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular regimen.
How do I store Ovace?
Store Ovace products at room temperature. Do not allow them to freeze and keep them away from heat. Dispose of any expired medication.
What happens if I overdose on Ovace?
There are no reports of overdose on Ovace. If you think you are using too much of this product, talk to your doctor or dermatologist. If someone accidentally ingests this medication, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
Ovace is for topical use only. Do not swallow or let the product get in your eyes, nose or mouth. Do not apply to any areas of the skin that have open wounds or have recently been injured.
