Warnings
Plavix is an anticoagulant medication, which means that you may bruise or bleed more easily, even from minor injuries. You need to be careful not to injure yourself, including while shaving or brushing your teeth. If you feel you are bleeding or bruising too easily, call your doctor immediately. Drinking alcohol will increase your risk of active bleeding in your stomach or intestines while taking Plavix.
Your doctor will need to do blood tests to ensure this is the right medication for your therapy regime. Keep all doctor and lab appointments. If you are expecting to have surgery, even dental surgery, tell your surgeon that you are taking Plavix. Never discontinue this medication suddenly, even if you feel well or have no symptoms.
