Vytone Information:
What is Vytone?
Vytone has been classified by the FDA as “possibly effective” for the treatment of dermatitis, eczema, acne urticata, pruritus and other skin conditions. It contains two active ingredients: hydrocortisone which is a corticosteroid that works by reducing itching and inflammation and iodoquinol is a type of antimicrobial effective at killing protozoa.
How do I use Vytone?
The proper use of Vytone will depend on the condition being treated. Typical use is three to four times daily. Clean and dry the affected area(s) of skin before applying medication, and wash your hands after each use. Always follow your doctor’s or dermatologist’s instructions.
Before taking Vytone, tell your doctor if:
- You have had adverse reactions to corticosteroids.
- You are using any other products on the affected area(s).
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Vytone.
What are the possible side effects of taking Vytone?
Possible side effects from using Vytone include irritation, itching, dryness, burning, and rash at the site of application. If any of these side effects are severe or don’t go away, tell your doctor. Serious side effects include skin atrophy, hypopigmentation, excessive hair growth and stretch marks and the development of another skin infection.
What if I forget to take a dose of Vytone?
If you forget to apply a dose of Vytone, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not apply double doses of Vytone to try to compensate for a missed one.
How do I store Vytone?
Store Vytone at a temperature between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from extreme temperatures.
What happens if I overdose on Vytone?
Overuse of Vytone is likely to result in exaggerated side effects. If you think you are using too much of this medication, talk to your doctor. If someone accidentally ingests this medication, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
Vytone is for topical use only, avoid contact with the eyes and areas around the eyes, nose and mouth.
