Vexol Information:
What is Vexol?
Vexol is a prescription eye drop medication that helps reduce inflammation, swelling, and redness caused by surgery, injury, or uveitis. The active agent in Vexol, rimexolone, is a corticosteroid that works by targeting and suppressing naturally occurring chemicals that cause an inflammatory response to injury or infections. It is important to apply Vexol as directed to receive the maximum benefits of this corticosteroid therapy.
How do I take Vexol?
Your doctor will provide specific instructions on how to apply Vexol based on your condition. To treat inflammation, apply 1 eye drop in the affected eye 4 times a day. Do not rub or touch your eyes as it may cause infections.
Before taking Vexol, tell your doctor if:
You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements
You have an active eye infection
You are allergic to Vexol
You have glaucoma
You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of taking Vexol?
The most common side effects associated with Vexol include blurred vision, discharge, discomfort, itching, stinging and burning. Report all side effects that concern you to your doctor right away to avoid serious complications.
What if I forget to take a dose of Vexol?
If you forget to take a dose of Vexol, skip it and take it during your next scheduled dose. Do not double up on Vexol to make up for a missed dose as it may cause side effects.
How do I store Vexol?
Store Vexol eye drops in a cool and dry place with a temperature between 67 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not expose this medication to extreme heat or moisture, as this may change the effectiveness of the Vexol treatment.
What happens if I overdose on Vexol?
If you accidently overdose or ingest Vexol, contact your doctor or call Poison Control at 1(800) 222-1222.
Warnings
Do not use Vexol for longer than prescribed as it may cause an increase in eye pressure, which can lead to glaucoma. Do not use Vexol if you have an active infection as it may cause symptoms to become worse over time.
