What is Kazano?
Kazano is a combination medication containing alogliptin and metformin hydrochloride. When used alongside a healthy diet and exercise program, it helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes.
How do I take Kazano?
Kazano is typically taken twice a day; however, defer to your doctor if he or she has given you different dosage instructions. It’s best to take this medication with food, especially if you a prone to getting an upset stomach. Swallow each tablet whole.
Before taking Kazano, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication, or you have any other allergies
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications
- You have had pancreatitis
- You have had gallstones
- You have kidney or liver problems
- You have heart problems
- You have a history of alcoholism
- You have metabolic acidosis or have had diabetic ketoacidosis

What are the possible side effects of taking Kazano?
Many people take the Kazano without having any drug side effects, but a small percentage of people experience cold-like symptoms, headache, back pain, urinary tract infection, increase in blood pressure, or diarrhea. These side effects usually don’t last long, but if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. In rare cases, Kazano may cause liver problems, low blood sugar, lactic acidosis (a buildup of acid in the blood), and pancreatitis. If you experience any unusual or bothersome side effects that may be symptoms of one of these conditions, contact your doctor immediately.
What if I forget to take a dose of Kazano?
Take the missed dose of Kazano as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal dosing schedule. Never double the dose to catch up.
How do I store Kazano?
Keep Kazano in a tightly sealed container stored at room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit). Make sure Kazano and all other prescription medications are kept out of reach of any children or pets in your home. What happens if I overdose on Kazano?
