Rythmol Sr Information:
What is Rythmol SR?
Rhytmol SR is the drug propafenone, a Group IC anti-arrhythmic medication, dispensed as an extended-release capsule; it is used in the treatment of an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) in order to help maintain a normal heartbeat. It acts on the heart muscle to stabilize its rhythm.
How do I take Rythmol SR?
Rythmol SR is administered in capsule form and taken orally twice a day with water and without regard to food. Do not crush, chew, open, split, divide, or inhale the capsule or its contents. The amount taken and frequency of dosing will be determined by your doctor after an evaluation of your medical profile. Rythmol Sr controls but does not cure an irregular heartbeat; continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Do not stop taking this drug without your doctor’s permission.

- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
- You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements
- You are taking SSRIs, beta-blockers, antihistamines, antidepressants, anticoagulants, antibiotics, or medications for irregular heartbeat, mental illness, or nausea

- You have had a heart attack within the last two years

- You have, or have had, bradycardia, hypotension, diminished or elevated sodium, potassium, chloride, or bicarbonate levels in your blood
- You have, or have had, diminished thirst, a loss of appetite, or excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea
- You have, or have had asthma or any condition that causes narrowing of the airways
What are the possible side effects of taking Rythmol SR?

If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; fever; hoarseness; difficulty breathing or swallowing), chest pain, fainting, new or worsened arrhythmia, tachycardia, bradycardia, sudden weight gain, swelling of the extremities, unexplained chills, weakness, or sore throat, or wheezing.

If you forget to take your scheduled dose of Rythmol SR, do so as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the dosage or alter the schedule to compensate for one that was missed.
